Eric Backus
Composition and Sound Design, UC Irvine, he/him
Eric Backus is an award-winning composer and sound designer with a portfolio including theatre, film, streaming media, immersive experiences, concert works, and sound art. Based in Chicago and Southern California, his work has been heard Off-Broadway, and around the country in regional theatres including Goodman Theatre, Milwaukee Rep., Chicago Shakespeare Theater, South Coast Rep., Northern Stage, Steppenwolf, Writers Theatre, Barrington Stage, and many others. For his theatrical work in Chicago, Eric has been recognized with a Joseph Jefferson Award and numerous nominations for excellence in sound design and original music. He is a proud member of USA829 (United Scenic Artists) and ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers).
