Qin (Duma) Du
Scenic & Costume Design, University of Washington, she/her


Duma Du (she/her) is a scenic and costume designer with a background in fashion design. After spending ten years in the fashion industry in China, she transitioned to theater and is currently finishing her MFA in Scenic and Costume Design at the University of Washington.
Duma is passionate about working with texture, materiality, and sustainability, and loves exploring how history, culture, and contemporary storytelling intersect. Her designs aim to be both deeply personal and universally resonant. She enjoys finding beauty in the overlooked and discarded, pushing creative boundaries across various types of work.
Recent credits include The Caucasian Chalk Circle, In the Blood, The Moors, Vanity Fair; Late, a cowboy song (University of Washington), Passage (Yun Theater), and Harvest of Woman (COHO theater).
She is excited to continue evolving her artistic voice and collaborating with other creatives to tell powerful stories through design.
